Use your own Twilio or Vonage account

All plans Who can do this: Client Admin Updated 30 Oct 2026
On this page
  1. Get your keys from Twilio or Vonage
  2. Add your keys and number in Send4
  3. Paste the webhook URLs into your provider’s dashboard

Send4 sends and receives texts through your own Twilio or Vonage account. Add your keys once and every number and flow in your workspace can use them. On Starter and during the trial, SMS is how Send4 reaches your leads, so you need one of these accounts. On Business and Enterprise you can use email instead, which needs neither.

Caution Without saved keys, you cannot send or receive texts through that provider’s numbers. Send4 has no SMS account of its own for you to fall back on.

Get your keys from Twilio or Vonage

  1. Sign in to your Twilio or Vonage dashboard.
  2. For Twilio, copy the Account SID and Auth token. If your numbers send through a Twilio Messaging Service, copy its Messaging Service SID too.
  3. For Vonage, open the Vonage Application your numbers use and copy its Application ID, Private key (PEM) and Signature secret. The signature secret must be at least 32 characters.
Note Twilio or Vonage bills each text to your own account. Send4 does not charge an additional fee per message.

Add your keys and number in Send4

  1. Open Settings → Integrations → Provider credentials.
  2. Next to your provider, select Configure. Paste the keys and select Save.
  3. Check that your provider now shows Configured.
  4. Open Settings → Channels → Phone numbers and select Add phone number.
  5. Choose the Provider, enter the Phone number in international format, such as +447700900123, and select Add.

Note Stored keys are never shown again, and saving replaces the full set. To change one key, select Replace and enter them all again.

Paste the webhook URLs into your provider’s dashboard

  1. On the Provider credentials page, find Webhook URLs for your provider dashboard and select the copy icon next to each URL.
  2. For Twilio, set the URL as the messaging webhook on your number or Messaging Service.
  3. For Vonage, set the Inbound URL and the Status URL on your Vonage Application, under the Messages capability.
  4. From your own phone, text the number you added to Send4, and check the message appears in Conversations.
Caution On Vonage, the Inbound URL and the Status URL are separate fields. If you put the Status URL in the Inbound field, customer replies never reach Send4, and no error shows anywhere.
Note Your test text is recorded but not answered until a flow listens on that number.
